Silicone is a proven material widely used in the pharmaceutical industry because of its excellent physiological properties. Silicone is inert in contact with human tissue.
In the food industry, available FDA-approved silicone grades are selected as food-contact materials. Silicone grades with a Polish PZH certificate are also available. Silicone components are used in machinery, production lines and seals approved for contact with foodstuffs.
In the chemical industry, silicone is used for its high resistance to oil, chemical compounds and steam. Its use is not recommended in environments containing esters, aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbons, concentrated acids or alkalis. Its wide operating-temperature range (silicone rubber from -50°C to +220°C as standard, and high-temperature gaskets up to +315°C) makes it suitable for components exposed to changing thermal conditions.
Silicone provides excellent damping of high- and low-frequency vibrations and is used in vibration-damping pads. Resistance to ageing, weather conditions, ozone and UV radiation supports outdoor applications.

Silicone rubber is a polymer and an elastomer, but not a typical thermoplastic, so the everyday word plastic explains little here. Silicone rubber is itself a rubber. It differs from organic rubbers through a chain backbone based on silicon-oxygen bonds, and combines inorganic and organic properties. It should not be confused with sanitary silicone from a cartridge.

Using a bottle sample and components from the old line, its engineer prepared the design and documentation for new change parts in SolidWorks.
