NBR / nitrile – butadiene-acrylonitrile rubber

NBR (nitrile) is the most common oil-resistant elastomer. Operating range -30°C to +100°C continuously (HNBR to +150°C). Excellent resistance to engine and hydraulic oils, petrol and diesel fuels.

Properties: resistance to oils (excellent); fuels: petrol, diesel and propane-butane. Selecting an elastomer for brake fluid requires checking the fluid type and the relevant compound data sheet. Strength 15-25 MPa, elongation 300-500%. Availability of grades for contact with food or drinking water must be confirmed in the current material data sheet.

Grades: standard (ACN 28-34%), low-temperature NBR-LT (ACN 18%, to -40°C), HNBR (hydrogenated, premium up to +150°C).

Applications: gaskets and washers for automotive, hydraulic and pneumatic applications, and components operating in contact with mineral oils and fuels.

SBR – styrene-butadiene rubber

SBR (styrene-butadiene rubber) – a general-purpose synthetic rubber. The most common base rubber for general rubber sheets, often in blends with CR (neoprene).

Properties: temperature range depends on the compound and sheet type, strength 15-25 MPa, elongation 400-600%, no oil resistance, poor ozone and UV resistance. A widely used general-purpose rubber.

Applications: general-purpose rubber sheets (in SBR/CR blends), car tyre treads, technical washers, low-load gaskets and light conveyor belts.

EPDM – ethylene propylene diene rubber

EPDM, ethylene propylene diene rubber, has good resistance to dilute acids and alkalis, and high resistance to steam, ozone, UV and weathering. The operating range depends on the compound and current material data sheet. Typical applications include construction, household appliances, water installations and the chemical industry.

Properties: high resistance to ozone, UV, weathering and steam, plus good resistance to dilute acids and alkalis. A grade for drinking-water contact must be confirmed in the current material data sheet. Note: EPDM is not resistant to mineral oils or hydrocarbon fuels.

Forms: solid, cellular and textile-reinforced. Standard colour: black. Other colours and approvals depend on the specific compound and material data sheet.

Applications: construction, household appliances, water installations and the chemical industry, once the compound is selected for the medium and operating temperature.

CR / neoprene – chloroprene rubber

Neoprene CR, or polychloroprene, is an elastomer with good resistance to oils, ozone and weathering, as well as flame-retardant properties. The operating range depends on the compound and current material data sheet.

Properties: good resistance to oils, ozone, UV and salt solutions, plus flame-retardant properties. Oil resistance is lower than for NBR.

Forms: standard, flame-retardant and textile-reinforced. Standard colour: black.

Applications: petrochemical industry, automotive, construction, insulation linings, anti-corrosion linings and flame-retardant products.

Note: the IIR, NR and BR descriptions below are general. Availability of a particular compound requires separate confirmation.

IIR / butyl – butyl rubber

IIR butyl rubber, or isobutylene-isoprene rubber, has very low gas permeability and good resistance to ozone and weathering. The operating range depends on the compound.

Properties: low gas permeability and good ozone and UV resistance. IIR is not recommended for use with mineral oils or fuels.

Variants: IIR, bromobutyl BIIR and chlorobutyl CIIR. Selection depends on the required tightness, temperature and medium.

Typical material applications: inner tubes, gas-tight seals and insulation. Pharmaceutical applications require a suitable grade and confirmed approvals.

NR / natural rubber

NR natural rubber, or polyisoprene, has high mechanical strength, elasticity and abrasion resistance. The operating range depends on the compound.

Properties: high resilience, abrasion resistance and vibration-damping capability. NR has poor resistance to mineral oils, fuels and many organic solvents.

Variants: general-purpose, abrasion-resistant and vibration-isolating. Food-contact use requires confirmation of the grade and current material data sheet.

Typical material applications: abrasion-resistant components, conveyor belts, vibration-isolation pads and tyre compounds.

BR – butadiene rubber

BR, or butadiene rubber, is a synthetic rubber used mainly in blends with NR and SBR. It remains flexible at low temperatures and has good wear resistance.

Properties: good low-temperature flexibility and wear resistance. The operating range depends on the compound composition.

Applications: tyre-production compounds (especially winter tyres), treads with improved low-temperature grip and components requiring low-temperature flexibility.

Frequently asked questions about rubber

Rubber is a polymer with rubber-like elasticity: it deforms under load and returns to its original shape after the load is removed. However, this one name covers many different rubbers, each with a different operating range and chemical resistance, so when ordering a component the specific type matters, not the word rubber alone.

We offer general-purpose SBR/CR-based sheets, oil-resistant NBR, acid-resistant EPDM, food-contact grades, abrasion-resistant sheets, ribbed sheets and sheets with cotton reinforcement. Selection depends on the medium, operating temperature and required construction. The properties of the specific compound and its current material data sheet must be confirmed before ordering.

Yes. We manufacture custom rubber and rubber-metal flange gaskets to drawings. The material is selected for the medium and operating temperature. The sheet range includes, among others, general SBR/CR, oil-resistant NBR and acid-resistant EPDM grades. Parameters must be confirmed for the specific compound and current material data sheet.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Anbi-Tech as a reliable and professional partner in machining and in manufacturing parts for the pharmaceutical industry. This is the third company where I have had the pleasure of working with Anbi-Tech, and the cooperation has been of the highest standard every time.

The pharmaceutical industry is exceptionally demanding: precision, on-time delivery, material quality and a full understanding of the customer’s needs all matter. Anbi-Tech has repeatedly proved that it is very well suited to this environment. The company has manufactured change parts, spare parts, filling needles, conveyor screws, components for dispensing powders and liquids, and many other production components for us.

The quality of the parts deserves particular recognition, whether they are made from 316L and 304 stainless steel or plastics such as POM, polyurethane and polycarbonate. The components are manufactured to a very high standard, with close attention to accuracy and detail, which is crucial in our industry.

Anbi-Tech has literally ‘saved our skin’ on many occasions in emergencies where time, a rapid response and a flexible approach to the customer mattered. A major strength of the company is its modern machinery, which enables it to complete even highly demanding projects while maintaining the highest standard of workmanship.

The people are equally important: the company’s staff always show complete commitment and a willingness to cooperate and provide technical support. Their extensive experience, professionalism and collaborative approach to customers are clear to see.

In pharmaceuticals, the ‘paperwork’, meaning certificates, is also important. The certificates have never been questioned during customer or regulatory audits, for example by GIF.

I strongly recommend working with Anbi-Tech to any company looking for a proven, reliable and quality-focused technical partner.

Dariusz Stachowicz, Senior Maintenance Manager, Polfa Warszawa S.A.

We had a very good experience working with Anbi-Tech on a new production line project for a bottling plant. Using a bottle sample and components from the old line, its engineer prepared the design and documentation for new change parts in SolidWorks. Anbi-Tech then manufactured timing screws, star wheels, drive components, bottle orienters, bottle turners and feeding components, among other items.

A major advantage is the end-to-end approach, from analysis and design through to the manufacture of finished components. Their considerable technical experience, precision and ability to solve unusual problems are clear. I recommend them.

Bartłomiej Ć, Specialist, ORLEN

We work with Anbi-Tech to manufacture parts and technical components for our projects. We value them above all for their workmanship, on-time delivery and excellent communication. When requirements are unusual, they can advise us and find a solution instead of simply manufacturing a part from a drawing. A reliable partner that I am happy to recommend.

Marek P., Production Manager, Triccor

A reliable company with extensive experience! They manufacture parts from steel, aluminium and specialist plastics such as POM and PTFE. Every service, whether turning, milling or CNC cutting, is carried out perfectly and with attention to the smallest detail. Excellent communication, professional advice and consistently on-time delivery. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone who needs reliable components.
